Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Norwich in Old Catton this small, family run private boutique guest house has become legend to weary travellers from all over the world for looking after their needs and comforts.
Built as a Gentlemans House in 1632 from reclaimed Caen stone, local flint and fine oak timbers with mullioned windows, wide inglenook hearths with log fires and generously proportioned rooms this old Mayors home has entertained guests for centuries.
The character of the house has been carefully preserved to retain the best features and each comfortable room meets the exacting needs of the modern traveller. The individual bedrooms feature superb beds made up with Egyptian cotton sheets and have direct dial telephone, trouser press, tea and coffee making facilities; whilst the bathrooms boast powerful showers, large baths some with spa/Jacuzzi and fluffy towels.
Occasionally Anthea prepares dinner using old family recipes, fresh local produce and herbs from the garden - it is advisable to book. Wines are carefully selected by the patron from reasonably priced award winning shippers. The house has a small honesty bar.
Room rates include substantial full English breakfast, fish or Vegetarian alternatives.
Afternoon tea can be served on arrival in your room or on the patio overlooking the garden. Well situated for business or pleasure being 2.5 miles north east of Norwich City and within easy reach of the airport, rail and bus stations.
